Who This Course Is For
Who Is Level 1 Suitable For?
New to Reiki and Wanting to Start with the Basics
If you are still discovering Reiki, attunement, hand positions and chakras, Beginner introduces the centre's teaching approach. Before class, read What is Usui Reiki? A complete introduction , then bring your questions to class.
You Want to Establish a Daily Self-Care Habit
Self-practice hand positions are a major course component. If you want regular quiet time, explore whether this practice fits your interests and routine. Learning does not guarantee improvements in sleep, emotions or physical health.
You Want to Learn to Support Others Respectfully
The course includes full-body positions for others and related considerations. Beyond hand placement, learners need to understand consent, comfort, personal boundaries and the importance of continuing professional medical care.
You Have Not Yet Decided Whether to Learn
You need not enrol because you feel everyone should learn. You can first read Videos , compare approaches or ask about course arrangements. If you only want a session experience, enquire separately about Reiki services.
Syllabus
13 Course Topics: What You Learn and Where the Boundaries Lie
The original topic names are retained below with explanatory notes. Terms such as aura, energy channel and therapy belong to traditional Reiki teaching and do not establish medical functions. Actual content and procedures depend on the instructor's explanation.
| Item | Course themes | Understanding and Points to Consider |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | An introduction to Reiki and its history | Explore Usui Reiki's background, distinguishing historical records from later interpretations. |
| 2 | Reiki principles and professional ethics | Understand consent, privacy and service boundaries alongside practice principles. |
| 3 | The Body's Chakra Energy System | Chakras are traditional concepts, not organ examinations or disease diagnoses. |
| 4 | Activation of the Level 1 Reiki energy channel | Accompanies the two listed attunements; activation is a term used within the tradition. |
| 5 | Sitting meditation | Explore quiet awareness practice; confirm methods, posture and duration. |
| 6 | Aura scanning and Reiki radiating practice | The name belongs to Reiki practice, not medical scanning or radiotherapy. |
| 7 | Full-body self-Reiki hand positions | Learn hand positions and basic procedures for your own practice. |
| 8 | Full-body Reiki hand positions for others | Respect consent and personal boundaries; practice is not diagnosis. |
| 9 | Localised Reiki practice | Learn local hand positions without diagnosing the cause of discomfort yourself. |
| 10 | Reiki is used in infants, children, animals, plants, and crystals | An introduction to applications does not establish effectiveness or guarantee safety for every recipient. |
| 11 | Understanding the aura and how the subconscious affects us | Course awareness concepts and traditional ideas are not psychological assessment. |
| 12 | How to see another person's aura | Visual impressions cannot establish another person's health, personality or psychological state. |
| 13 | Working with emotions accumulated in the subconscious | An original syllabus topic name, not a promise to treat emotional disorders or trauma. |
For an advance look at how these topics form a day's learning, see What to Expect During a Day at the Level 1 Workshop . The example arrangement in the article is not a fixed timetable.
Two Attunements
Two Individual Attunements: A Confirmed Core Course Feature
Attunement Is a Learning Ritual within the Reiki Tradition
Attunement is a transmission ritual between teacher and student. The course specifies two individual attunements and emphasises practical learning afterwards as a major component.
One-to-One Attunement Does Not Mean the Entire Course Is Taught Individually
Individual here describes attunement, not necessarily private tuition throughout or a particular class size. If individual guidance matters to you, confirm class format, practice arrangements and the facilitator before enrolling.
Do Not Judge Success by Unusual Sensations
You need not force warmth in the palms, colours or emotional release. Sensations do not prove an energy channel has opened and are not health tests. Ask the instructor about technique and tradition rather than blaming yourself.

Hand Positions
Hand Positions for Yourself and Others: Placement and Personal Boundaries
Self-Practice: Learn to Describe Your Practice Clearly
The course includes full-body self-practice positions. Ask about placement, sitting or lying down, arm support and adjustments for discomfort. A lack of sensation does not mean you should press harder or hold a position uncomfortably.
Local Positions Are Not Instructions to Press Wherever There Is Illness
Local practice should not be treated as a one-to-one prescription matching diseases and hand positions. Follow medical advice for pain, wounds, postoperative restrictions or other concerns; learning Reiki should not delay examination.
Working with Others: Consent Matters More Than Completing Every Step
Explain what will happen, whether touch is involved and that the person can stop at any time. Respect wishes not to be touched, lie down or continue. Do not interpret boundaries as resistance to energy.
How Reading After Class Complements Classroom Demonstration
A Guide to Reiki Self-Treatment Hand Positions can support revision and questions, but teachers may use different positions or sequences. When beginning, follow your actual class instruction and physical comfort.
Understanding the Language
Chakras, Auras and Emotions: Concepts, Sensations and Evidence
Chakras Can Be a Learning Framework, Not a Medical Examination
This course introduces the chakra energy system. Chakra names can help explain traditional ideas and hand positions, but cannot determine organ function, disease or mental health conditions.
Aura Scanning Is Not Medical Scanning
Warmth, tingling and other hand sensations are subjective. They should not identify disease, assess severity or test medication effectiveness. The syllabus term “Reiki radiation therapy” is also distinct from hospital radiotherapy despite the similar wording.
Emotional Awareness Is Not Psychotherapy
The course may discuss emotions and inner thoughts, but emerging images, memory fragments or feelings should not be treated as verified past events. Students should not be required to disclose private experiences or continue uncomfortable exercises in the name of release.
How Can Reiki Be Understood Rationally?
“Reiki healing” is a common search term, but this course is not medical training. For research evidence and limitations, read Does Reiki Work? An Overview of the Scientific Perspective ; personal accounts should not be treated as guarantees of therapeutic effects.
Daily Applications
Infants, Animals, Plants and Crystals: Applications and Limitations
The original course includes Reiki applications for infants, children, animals, plants and crystals. Listing these topics does not establish specific benefits for every recipient.
Babies and Children
Obtain parental or guardian consent and respect the child's responses. Practice cannot replace paediatric assessment or alter established safe-care arrangements.
Animals
Do not prevent animals from leaving, force touch or assume stillness means enjoyment. Consult a registered veterinarian about health or behavioural concerns. Reiki study does not confer veterinary qualifications.
Plants and Crystals
Explore these topics as tradition and observation, without promising improved plant survival, longer flowering or crystal treatment of disease.

What Should I Confirm About the Level 1 Certificate?
- Which organisation issues the certificate.
- Attendance, practice or assessment requirements for receiving it.
- The certificate title and the course level it represents.
- Whether it is included in the HK$900 fee.
- If recognition is mentioned, who provides it and what it covers.
The name “certificate workshop” does not mean students automatically obtain the instructor's association membership. A Beginner certificate is not a medical licence, veterinary qualification or Reiki teaching qualification.

Prepare Your Learning Questions
Consider whether your goal is Reiki history, self-practice positions, working with family or exploring holistic ideas. Clear goals help determine suitability; you need not commit to every level beforehand.
Physical and Privacy Needs
Confirm special seating, mobility limitations or accessibility needs in advance. Ask healthcare professionals about health concerns; ordinary registration messages need not include full medical histories or unnecessary sensitive details.
Example Enquiry Message
Hello, I would like to enquire about the Usui Reiki Beginner Certificate Workshop. I have not learnt Reiki before. Could you confirm upcoming dates, location, class size and whether HK$900 includes materials and a certificate? Thank you.
After the Workshop
After Level 1: Practise, Ask Questions and Continue Learning
First Absorb What You Have Learnt
Completing a day of teaching differs from becoming familiar with every procedure. Organise notes, record unclear steps and use the agreed follow-up arrangements to ask questions. One-day completion does not guarantee proficiency or particular results.
Do Not Treat Discomfort or Unusual Sensations as Signs of Progress
Practice records can describe posture, duration and sensations without assigning yourself an energy level. Persistent fatigue, pain, emotional distress or other symptoms should not be explained solely as Reiki reactions.
Explore the Next Level According to Your Interests
Intermediate Course lists the power, emotional and distance symbols. For integrated I Ching content, Advanced Course separately includes “Reiki Family Constellations: The I Ching Philosophy”. These belong to other courses and are not automatically included at Beginner level.
Reading Paths for Body, Mind and Spirit and the I Ching
To build an initial understanding, start with An Introduction to Integrating Body, Mind and Spirit then read The Connection Between I Ching Philosophy and Reiki . Distinguish philosophical interpretations, traditional beliefs and scientific evidence as you read.
FAQ
Usui Reiki Level 1 Course: Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Is the Usui Reiki Level 1 Workshop?
The listed fee is HK$900. Confirm before payment whether materials, certificate charges and other items are included.
What Are the Class Hours and Actual Teaching Duration?
The listed schedule is 11:00–17:00. These are start and end times, not teaching hours after breaks. Confirm class dates, lunch and break arrangements separately.
Can I Enrol Without Any Reiki Experience?
You are welcome to enquire. Beginner introduces Reiki history, principles, chakras and hand positions. Confirm any age, health or other requirements with the centre according to your circumstances.
How Many Attunements Are There at Level 1?
The course specifies two individual attunements with the instructor. Practical learning afterwards is also a major component. Timing and procedures depend on the instructor's arrangements.
Do Individual Attunements Mean the Whole Course Is Private Tuition?
No. This describes the attunement arrangement, not necessarily individual or small-group tuition throughout. Confirm class size and teaching format before enrolling.
Does Feeling No Warmth, Tingling or Other Sensations Mean I Am Learning Poorly?
Learning ability should not be judged by the strength of sensations. These are subjective experiences and do not establish an energy field or therapeutic effects. Ask about hand positions and technique without forcing yourself to seek unusual experiences.
Can Aura Scanning Diagnose Illness?
No. Auras and scanning are traditional Reiki concepts or awareness practices. They cannot replace medical examinations or identify organ health, disease or another person's psychological condition through sensations in the hands.
Does Completing Level 1 Provide an Internationally Recognised Qualification?
The course is called a certificate workshop, but current information does not specify the Beginner certificate's issuer, format, assessment or recognition. Request details first. An instructor's association membership does not automatically give students the same qualification.
Does Beginner Include Reiki Symbols, Distance Reiki or the I Ching?
This beginner syllabus does not list the three Intermediate symbols or distance Reiki; those belong to Intermediate. I Ching content appears in the Advanced description and should not be assumed included at Beginner level.
How Does the Beginner Workshop Differ from a Reiki Appointment?
The workshop focuses on learning, including attunement and hand positions. A Reiki appointment generally provides an experience with a practitioner. Content and fees differ; a course fee is not a session price.
Must I Enrol in Level 2 Immediately After the Course?
Progressing through levels need not be the only measure of learning. Take time to absorb Beginner material, then consider Intermediate according to your interests and needs. Ask the instructor about requirements and suggested intervals.
How Can I Enquire and Enrol?
WhatsApp 9121 4927, email Soullovecentre@hotmail.com or use the contact form to confirm dates, location, fee inclusions and payment terms.
For more information, see Frequently asked questions and Article library 。
This workshop provides Reiki and holistic education, not medical, psychotherapy or veterinary training.
